Looks like a bong
Love your content and have been a long time subscriber. It is still astounding sometimes how little care your team put into getting asian dishes right considering you cook them. It is pronounced ‘char siew cheong fun’. It is not a dumpling but a noodle dish. Wouldn’t it be fair that if you are featuring it to give it’s proper due?
oh dear on that "cha siu cheung fun" pronunciation Ben...
I live in Australia, if I leave my butter out, it melts and separates...
The main problem of smart gadgets, how long will they be supported? Most of them, won't last a year.
one thing i would like the kettle for is boiling the water from bed in the morning before I leave my comfy blankets
Bitter leaf water is bitter leaf water...
The lid should be more useful for pans with ears instead of long handels
People who want smart tech to work for them will not accept 0 decimal accuracy
I believe the proper statement is. I'd love to have it, but not at that price.
my alexa answered you ...
Self espoused tea sommelier here, I would never get a machine that automated the tea making process if I can't directly control both the temperature and the time of the steep
How the lid could be solved - put a sliver of oven proof silicone in one area. Then it can handle and handle and still seal.
That tea machine is designed by and for the truly hopeless. My fridge has a little compartment for butter, why would I kick it out of its home? Even in Minnesota, butter still melts and goes off if left out too long. Maybe I just don't eat it as quickly as others?
A smart controlled kettle is anything but. I don't actual use a kettle, or have much of a need for one, but what difference does a minute take? I imagine, actually the time difference between using the app, or using a speaker, compared to getting up and pushing the button would be moot, not to mention, you have to prepare whatever you're gong to pour the water into with whatever else goes in, and fiddling with an app just lengthens the process and makes it unnecessary. I will say, however, the temperature control is nice, but I imagine a simple display and temp control buttons could fulfill the same role
Pls reviewing rice cookers! The cheap one vs the high end Japanese one!
I used to leave butter out. Now I live in a very hot, wet place with bugs. In order to be clever, I put my butter in a sealed container...and I got moldy butter soup. Fridge it is!
ironically the last one might be better for the tea drinkers than the first one. yea you still have to do half the job that the first did for yo but at least you get the perfect temp for the tea!
So much cringe on the butchered pronunciation of char sui cheung fun and calling them dumplings... I've noticed this in a few videos where there's no research into non-english words. Your videos are fun, but a big criticism is the lack of any apparent diversity in your team...
i think the auto kettle with the temp control makes a bloody might more sense then the silly square tea maker with none and the silly bell if your kitchens in another part of the house no getting up to turn it on just refill after every use
Could you compare different hobs? Gas, ceramic, induction etc....
You should review all of the gimmicky pans and pots that exist. The Gotham pot. Rachel Ray. Blue Diamond. Red Copper. Etc etc etc. there are tons
Tea square? My first thought was “That’s an unusual bong” 🤣 Edit - as someone who was fortunate to have a home renovation in 2019 (or my mum and her boyfriend actually) a boiling water tap seems like a better investment then that kettleapp
My first reaction to Gourmia was that it looked very premium and very beautiful. I was shocked that it was only £29 until I clicked the link and saw it was £60 .
I can easily live without any of them. I would happily replace all of the current ones I have if any of these added value, which they do not. Especially that really wonky tea pot thing at the beginning. That was really a frightening piece of junk.
My alexa is very confused after Jamie asked for the kettle to be filled
Can you have a go at antique gadgets?
Stop setting off my Alexa!
I think the all fiting lid solves the problem of storage but it also creates another one. Because what if you are cooking a meal with three seperate pots at the same time and you need three lids to put on (for every pot one - in the same minute). That is great because now you got rid of the old lids and you are left with one lid that may fit on all of the pots but not at the same time 🤔😂
Since I've now seen that kettle I'm getting it for my farther in law cause he always before getting home from work likes having the kettle boiled for his tea
there are better tea makers out there. from top of my head back when teavana was still a thing they had an amazing tea maker which adjusted based on tea you used.
seriously though, that kettle is way too expensive for something that conveniently heats water. Best dang electric kettle... www.amazon.com/Choice-675-International-Cordless-Electric/dp/B0000667GU Used to burn through the $20 models every 6 months, had this one for 5 years now.
Gimme more of these I am addicted
You should try a Gastroback Tea Maker. Those are surely better for tea lovers. Although it is more of a high end product. The temperature is fully controllable, as is the brew time with many pre-programmed options, e.g. for green tea or black tea. It features also a larger kettle while the whole product is smaller than the square shaped block you just tested. www.gastroback.de/tee-wasserkocher-fruehstueck/teekocher/1040/design-tee-automat-advanced-plus?c=25
git, my alexa is going mental right now.
"Butter won't spoil outside of fridge" Lives in *Death Valley* *Butter* _evaporates_ ... Huh, guess he was right.
I don;t know but coming in from building snow men with the kids. would be nice to have a pre boiled perfict temp kettle ready for hot chocolate , Would not buy it but as a gift. Yes please.
the tea maker does coffee also, so good for a family which has both C. and T. drinkers at one or two cups at a time and cooler looking then a kereag.
Great idea on the kettle. A black box device with a "burn down your house" potential and connected to the internet and most likely riddled with security issues.
The kettel would be usefull for baking, just putting it to 37 and have Perfect temp for yeast right from the getgo. That would be really nice
Does jamie have synesthesia like me?
Thanks for setting my alexa off- throughout this videoo!
Honestly, when I want to get fussy about tea, I have a 20 yr old optimus prime head teapot and a tea strainer at the back of the drawer. But I have to ready focus to tell the difference between a good quality bag and loose tea.
Me, an American, watching the extreme litigation over proper tea temperatures: *hahaha coffee maker go brrrrr*
alternative to the kettle, just get a normal kettle and a smart plug for a tenth the price and there you go, kettle that turns on while you sleep
I love tea, but I don't fuss much about precision because I just can't really be bothered. So to me that tea square is pretty cool, but i still don't have the room for one in my kitchen
More Gadgs MORE GADGS
"How square do we think this rectangle is?" .... im dead.
Even without the heat, leaving butter in the pantry it's gonna make it catch EVERY smell in the kitchen!
That butter dish is the most pointless thing I have ever seen
i love the kettle, would save me a minute standing in the cold kitchen lol
my alexa is telling u, "she cant find a device called kettle"
I have a universal lid and I love ❤️ it and use it almost everyday . It fits all my small and large pots and pans, my wok and my big frypan. I love the clear lid. I’ve recommended it to a few friends and got nothing but raving reviews back. Highly recommended 👌🏼👌🏼 ( also I’ve seen different ones from different manufacturers that are all slightly different sizes. So check specks )
Your "Yippe-ki-yay" sign is missing a word or two...
Bauer makes a better multilid. Its mase with silicone so it solves the "handle" problem
I like the butter container and the app kettle.
as for #2 its called a butter bell gents -try that instead; totally awesome!
love me some tea, that gadget seems unneccessary though, the most useful tool for making tea is a waterboiler with adjustable temperature
Ben is so lonely that he wants his kitchen to talk to him
Would you stop trying to get my Alexa to turn on Kettle ! Haha I might change my light name to kettle just to get Jamie to turn my lounge light on
Even through ILworld that noise went right through me !
I think you angered my Alexa.
That butter dish looks so bad
First item .. looked amazingly nice designed (the tea/coffee maker) .. up until the point it showed that it was all just printed plastic. If it was really premium, i would have expected a real wooden frame and maybe powdered stainless steel body ... what a disappointment. (but for 30 . its really more a cheapo plastic novelty item .. if it was indeed made of premium materials and allowed more customization .. i could see it in the 100-150 range .. missed opportunity.
About kettle - I'm looking for kettle that boils water and then brings it down to set temperature, instead of just warming water to temperature. If I wanna brew my green tea, I want to boil water first then wait until it is 70 degrees for example.
Eh I disagree with the lid, comparing it to making do isn't that good of a point because something being better than a bad option doesn't necessarily make it a good option. It's a great idea but the excess is going to catch on a lid more often than not when used on smaller sized cooking vessels, an adjustable lid is the right way to go, someone just has to figure that out at a good price.
Yeah, that tea maker thingy... if you could control temperature and infuse-time (rather than just choose light, medium or strong), then it'd be IDEAL. because it takes away the loose-hanging stuff of making tea (pouring hot water you can accidentally scald yourself with or sprinkle loose tea all over the place, etc.) without ruining the control of different types of tea and their brew-formats.
Them: different teas require different temperatures. Me: I just like a cold glass of sweet tea
my family has a flexible silicone lid that fits all our pots and pans. so for me that lid is useless cause the silicone works better because it flexes around handles
can we please all agree to censor the big smart device words. i absolutely hate watching videos and having my echo set off.
Loved the idea of the gourmia machine however the minute after I followed the link price had gone up and this was same day watching the video after it going up. Gutted but maybe an update on your video of the new price is possibly a good suggwstion so others know as well
"Butter can be left out." Me: rolling on the floor laughing in the remnants of the LAST stick of butter the cats slid the dish off the counter to get....
For the lid solution if they cut a small hole loud that would fit the average handle size I think it'd be perfect
Does everyone in the uk not have a butter dish?
They're not that popular anymore.
I would not have that first gadget, but I do love my tea and I bought a smart kettle for it. Oh so very happy with the right temperature for thems teas.
Jamie's existential crisis over the butter dish XD I'm dying
"Beautifully designed" tea station is also not that beautiful, especially with the huge logo on the front.
How square so you think this rectangle is - Jamie
Thank you for repeatedly setting my Alexa off
The kettle is a very privileged thing, I recognize that but I love the it will keep the temperature at your desired temperature. Running around in the morning I boil my kettle 5 times because the water got too cold xD
The lid thingy was crap... Most cookware sets come with their lids, why buy one more?
Anyone else liking the video before they even push play knowing that just bc it’s a new Sorted video you know you’re going to love it?
It's not for Old Man Jamie
I love specialty tea, and I will never use that machine. First, brewing tea is part of the joy. It's calming and soothing. You can feel the warmth by just looking at the color of the water slowly changing. Second, not only brewing temperature matters, but also brewing technique. How about pre-heating the tea? First infusion, second infusion, and so on, all requires different techniques, and different people has their own recipe. For the first infusion, it's pretty straight-forward. It's already well-known about how hot the water should be, how long the brewing process, etc. But for the second infusion, some people lower the temperature and make the brewing longer for the second infusion, so that the tea will not be overbrewed. Personally, for my second infusion, I use room-temperature water, or sometimes ice cold water, to immediately stop the brewing process, and the result is a lot sweeter (in my opinion). After brewing several times using room-temperature water, my final brew is in the fridge, similar to a cold brew, but definitely not cold brew (it's just like infused water with fancy teas). I enjoy all of those process, and the results are different for each infusion, and all of them are satisfying. Even if they pay me to use that machine, I'll just take the money and brew my own cup of tea.
"I know you're a Dad but you're starting to sound like my parents" that's absolutely hilarious. I really want to get a smart coffee maker that can make my coffee for me in the morning
Oh ffs. It takes a minute to boil water in a kettle. If you program it when you're not home, the water will be cold again when you get home. So stupid.
Give me the scons, keep all the gadgets
Everything looks amazing ??
@SORTEDfood Dear Sorted You guys asked about tea. and what device i would use, since different teas needs different temperatures wouldn't the Kettle be more Of a Tea Gadget ? In Tea you don't want to burn the tea. in most cases people don't take into consideration that hot newly boiled water burns and scolds the tea leaving a bitter flavour in the cup. with this Kettle you get exactly the temperature you want. so you can enjoy your posh tea effort less.
I love how Jamie is so baffled at enjoying a butter dish
I actually despise the internet of things. It's way too easy to hack those gadgets IMO.
without taking out a freaking thermometer????? (and yes I am thinking of the type you put up your bum....)
Have you guys done the Smarter iKettle (3rd gen)? Alexa/Nest enabled smart kettle. If not I would love to see how well it works with voice commands.
Pfft, the Breville Tea Maker is so much better, although the price point is 10x more lol. But that tea maker looks so flimsy.
that tea / coffee thingy - isn't £29 - £60-100 depending where you shop - shame , it was worth a punt @29, @59.99 - nope
Just a few gadget suggestion that look like they could be useful: Whisk cleaner: www.amazon.co.uk/Whisk-Wiper-Multipurpose-Kitchen-Stainless-Steel/dp/B071D29X15 StemGem strawberry huller: www.amazon.co.uk/Chefn-102-138-005-StemGem-Strawberry-Huller/dp/B002XOHZW Sushi Maker Roller Machine: www.amazon.co.uk/Gifts-All-Occasions-Limited-SHATCHI-1373/dp/B009DCUL1E/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=Sushi+Maker&qid=1609884406&sr=8-17
The lid thingy was crap... Most cookware sets come with their lids, why buy one more?
first gadget made me scream
That butter dish isn’t the right shape for standard U.K. shape butter looks like it’s for American sticks
Obligatory WHO THE FUCK PUT CRISPY SHALLOTS ON 叉燒腸粉
Thanks for posting this video....
Well... you set off my alexa when he asked her to turn it off
