Try a bulky neon light ballast, and Ur car coil. They work really well to power Tesla coils. But I suspect u may have partially shorted Ur car coil. I think I needed a diode bridge in the circuit somewhere but.

If you want a 70000 volt, Arc about an inch long, the smell of ozone in the air, and have it safe to the touch although it will knock you on your butt, then do what I did at 8 years old. Make a monostable multivibrator out of a 556 timer, boost it with the original HEI module, then fire a GM HEI coil from a 79 Camaro. And there you go, a constant sick ass spark, that you can touch. Or, connect to GM HEI complete distributor to a fan motor, wire distributor to a 12 volt battery, turn your fan on, and get shocked, a lot. 🤪👍 yeah at 8 years old, I actually did the second one, with the fan motor. You really thought I built a monostable multivibrator and hooked it to a GM HEI module? And I did that about 20 years later, LOL🤪👍
